This month we’re focusing on The Swan ~ a beautiful, flowing movement that strengthens the back body while opening the front of the body. Think length, lift and elegance 🦢

Why we love The Swan:
• Strengthens the back, glutes and posterior chain
• Opens the chest and shoulders, helping counteract desk posture
• Improves spinal mobility and extension
• Encourages core engagement while supporting the lower back
• Helps create that feeling of length and lift through the spine

When performed with control and breath, The Swan is amazing for building strength in the muscles that support your posture and for creating space through the front of the body.

In class this month we’ll explore different variations on the reformer to help you find your strongest and most graceful Swan 🦢✨

‘The Hundred’ The first in Joseph Pilates sequen

‘The Hundred’

The first in Joseph Pilates sequence, an intentional move to connect mind to body to breathe using focus and concentration whilst warming up the whole body.

The hundred can be altered to suit everyone’s ability as you can see above:
~ the ‘beginner’ which supports the neck and back
~ the ‘progression’ which adds the lifting of the head, cervical spine and shoulders and curling the abdominals
~ the ‘hundred’ the full exercise of the hundred which adds on the legs extending to a 45 degree angle with heels together, toes apart and squeezing them inner thighs together.
